Corry Haines (initiator of the code retreat concept) used a metaphor with musicians to explain the retreat concept which we gracefully will try to adept to our quest: Leading people is a bit like playing an instrument, the big difference is that as a musician you take a lot of time practicing and only a fraction of your time performing on stage. As a passionate leader at work, we are constantly on stage and we never take enough time to practice. This retreat is meant for practice and sharing experiences on a regular base.
Are you also experiencing situations where others do not want to follow you around? Do you feel trapped sometimes in having to do things just because you have to and not because you want to? Are you also having difficulties to understand how others so easily avoid taking up responsibility of their actions?
We believe there are several
magnificent frameworks and models out there and would like to
help you and ourselves to find, experiment and learn from those
techniques. We'll be there to facilitate the learning and help you build bridges and
connect the dots
from different models and systems in order to gain knowledge that allow
you to
become a better leader.
During a facilitated
role play
of a fictional, yet very familiar, situation we'll guide you through different
iterations of applying leadership
and coaching technique's.
The first iteration will be completely played by the facilitating duo in order to provide context and direction to the participants. The 4 subsequent iterations will extend or replace the learnings from the previous one and increase our overall knowledge and awereness to tackle serious issues within our very own work place. The last iteration on its part will be used to resemble all learnings into a structured system, model or practice one can take with him/her for everyday use.
The retreat has been designed as such that we will explore the collaborative knowledge related to change management and behavior towards upsets. What exactly will come out of the learnings is unsure and can not be predicted due to its collaborative nature of the retreat but that it will be interesting is a certainty!
The retreat is a continuation of, practice area and breading space
for things coming from our trainings and In the Brain Off sessions,
following our A - B - C concept.
As this session is somehow linked to...
- our IBO
session of April 2012
- as well as the one coming mid June 2012;
